Neal Pollock is a Research Chair in Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine and Associate Professor of Kinesiology at Laval University, Quebec, Canada.

He was previously a research director at the Divers Alert Network (DAN) in Durham, North Carolina. His academic background is in zoology, exercise physiology and environmental physiology.

His research focuses on human health and safety in extreme environments. He is editor emeritus of the journal Wilderness & Environmental Medicine. 


Scuba diving frequently takes place in remote, and often extremely remote, locations, which can add to the challenges of managing adverse events.


This presentation will examine common and serious medical problems associated with diving, as well as field strategies for managing them.
